B ill Mittag paints the American West before the great western migration changed it forever. His Native American camp scenes portray the Northern and Southern Plains Tribes in their natural state of being. His warm oil palette gives a historical flare to his paintings, thus giving the viewer the feeling of "being there." He travels throughout the west doing small oil studies or taking photographs of potential sites for larger studio paintings. His studio contains large collection of Indian artifacts, regalia, and reference books. Bill's paintings have been exhibited in several museums in the western United States.
